Brazil
has
also got the
so-called Atlantic
rainforests which are found along its south-eastern coasts, roughly
south from Salvador.
These forests get less
rain
than Amazon,
and they also get cooler
temperatures with greater seasonal changes than does the
Amazon
basin. Altitudes are also more variable than in the amazon.
These varieties mean there are large amounts of different plant and
animal species in different forest types like the lower montane forest,
tropical semi-deciduous forest, and tropical moist broadleaf forest.
Many
species are endemic to the area. 54% of trees, 64% of palms, 80% of
primates and 40% of all other animals are found nowhere else
in
the world.
